It was commissioned at the end of the 18th century by the Counts of Tepa on the remains of a pilgrims’ hospital, a symbol of hospitality on the Camino de Santiago. Until the beginning of the 21st century, it was the family’s habitual residence, who lovingly and dedicatedly undertook a profound rehabilitation to restore its original splendor.
The project was born from the desire to preserve the family heritage and share it with travelers seeking authentic experiences. Each room reflects this respect for tradition and the warmth of a lived-in home. The garden, the noble rooms, the libraries, and lounges convey the elegance of a bygone era, with all the comforts of the present.

In the Historical Heart of Astorga
Located in the heart of the Camino de Santiago, in the historical heart of Astorga, Casa de Tepa is a unique civil construction from the late 18th century. It was the residence of the Counts of Tepa until the year 2000. It was built on the remains of an old convent and pilgrims’ hospital, the most important of the seventeen that the city had. The building stands out for its sober and elegant architecture, its spacious areas, and its stately garden that invites relaxation.
The house has been carefully restored respecting its original character, with special attention to the furniture and historical details. Its atmosphere transports visitors to another era, combining the charm of the old with modern comfort.

Among its specialties, the traditional cocido maragato stands out, unique for its order of consumption: meats, chickpeas, soup, and custard with sponge cake for dessert. You can also taste local products such as cecina de León (cured beef) and mantecadas de Astorga (sponge cakes).
